Celebrate Christmas with beloved heroes from Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales.
A literary-musical performance inspired by the stories of the world-famous Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen (this year marks the 220th anniversary of his birth).
It is a kaleidoscope of the best works by the author, accompanied by dramaturgically carefully selected pieces of world classical music.
At the same time, the performance is complemented by the genius painter and Antarctic traveller German Grott, who directly on stage, with projection on a large canvas, creates enchanting illustrations.

The literary passages will be narrated by the well-known and acclaimed theatrical actor Igor Orozovič.

Performed by the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of the world-renowned conductor Alim Šach, the program will feature musical works by Czech and international composers: Dvořák, Janáček, Nielsen, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, Anderson.
Music combined with spoken words from literary works will create a cohesive artistic event.

Andersen’s extraordinary imagination shone in his fairy tales and stories — touching and educational, sad and cheerful — where it is equally important to be faithful and brave, honest and worthy, to see the beauty and not fear the death of loved ones.

Andersen’s fairy tales form a common cultural code of the better half of humanity.
Many generations grew up with them, and interest in them does not diminish — quite the opposite.

The program features excerpts from popular fairy tales as well as little-known stories of this exceptional Danish author.
The concert performance will appeal not only to children but also to adult audiences.
