APHKHAZETI Dance Georgian State Ballet, Choir and Orchestra in Prague.

APHKHAZETI s a unique combination of Georgian dance, deeply rooted in the nation’s tradition, with contemporary choreography and music. It is an ensemble with an almost century-long history, officially established in 1931, that continually performs worldwide, bringing audiences the most beautiful aspects of Georgian culture—tradition, folklore, and incredible energy.

The war in Abkhazia forced the artists to relocate to Tbilisi in 1992. However, despite the hardships, APHKHAZETI maintained its character, skills, and unique vibrancy.
In March 2021, with the arrival of a young and talented artistic director, the legendary Bachana Chanturia, the ensemble began a new chapter in its history. He invited renowned Georgian composers to collaborate, and together they prepared a unique musical accompaniment, the program known as Choreonicon, which will be presented in the Czech Republic!

APHKHAZETI presents traditional fragments of Georgian music in a completely new rendition, performed live by the orchestra, as well as impressive dances from various regions interpreted by the legendary Bachana Chanturia! The innovation was so groundbreaking that over the past two years, the ensemble has performed in many regions of Georgia and also abroad. Ethnic, ballet, and modern elements come together in an amazing show, the likes of which have never been seen in the Czech Republic!
